I ordered this to use as a dress for Halloween when my family went as Merida, Fergus, and Elinor. I was Elinor and wanted something similar to her beautiful green dress in the movie, but on a serious budget. I went with this one because it was affordable and had the deep green color I'd hoped for. It looked pretty elegant and I liked that it could be cinched using the corset feature.Okay, that was the expectation; let's set the record straight with the reality. The fabric of the dress is super lightweight and reminds me of pajamas. It doesn't just feel comfortable, it looks like you're wearing a nightgown. Also, it's extremely, comically short. I'm 5'6 and it was well above my ankles, which meant I had to kind of play it off with tall boots and hope no one noticed (they did). It's practically tea-length on me.On to the "corset," I figured it wouldn't be an actual corset but I did expect to be able to pull the top area taut at least, especially once I realized how short it was - I figured maybe if I could pull it snug, it would give it a little bit of length. Nope. The moment I pulled on the ribbon to tighten the front, at least 3 of the little loops popped out. I was in a hurry so I had to just leave it. By the end of the night, the ribbon was barely holding onto the dress for dear life.Speaking of that ribbon - you have to thread it yourself, and it would probably be easier to pass a yachting rope through the eye of a sewing needle than thread that corset ribbon through those loops.Overall I really wanted to love this dress but it just ended up falling really short of the expectation this product listing set for it. If you have to order it in a pinch, be thinking of what you can do to it to make it more suitable to your needs when it arrives. Looking back I wish I'd have had the time to add some trim at the bottom or something to help it look a little longer, but next time I'll probably just pick a different dress.
